History

Since 1881, the American Association of University Women has worked for equity for girls and women though advocacy, research, and education. In that year, Marion Talbot called a meeting of 17 women with a unique purpose: to support one another and future generations of women in higher education.

The Arkansas Division of the AAUW first met in 1923, with delegates from Fayetteville as well as Little Rock and Hot Springs.

Events

In keeping with our mission of lifelong learning and societal betterment, the Fayetteville branch of AAUW offers a variety of activities for members.

Dine Around meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30. This month’s meeting place is Shogun’s.
Classic Films meetings are to be arranged. Please email [contact person] to receive announcements of upcoming meetings.
Marathon Bridge meetings are to be announced. Please call Pauline Calloway at 443-4295 for further information.
Issues and Perspectives meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at Uncle Gaylord’s for lunch with a speaker and discussion of current issues.
Book Group meets the third Friday of each month at 11:30.
